However, I do have several yoga mats in my office from my many attempts at yoga over the years. So my precious 3 1/2 year old granddaughter assumes that this means I know everything about yoga. And who am I to disappoint her. She came over last night and had a slumber party with her G.G. and I. We played many games and had silly laughs and just had a great time. So as it was getting close to bedtime we had decided that it would be fun to make pallets on the living-room floor. Well we have hardwoods so I knew this would not be comfy but it would be a fun adventure. I had a great idea to get all of my yoga mats and stack them and then lay all of the blankets on top so that it would be a bit more comfy. As she is watching me unroll the mats in my most professional way [in her eyes] she says, 'we should do our yoga' - you can only imagine the look on my face. Do yoga, I ask? I tried explaining very quickly that it was late and we really needed to calm down and get ready for bed. Well that didn't do anything but backfire on me. She immediately came back with 'yoga is meditating'.Well hell I could not disappoint that all knowing angelic face staring at me. Actually she was standing with her hands on her hips just waiting for me to try and come back with another excuse. So there we were with our yoga mats in place and me instructing a class of two. I made up names of positions and created the most hilarious poses, we stretched and made great attempts at downdog [more like half dog] but I nailed savasana..... and she was happy with the class.
But the most precious part of the evening was teaching her to do NAMASTE. So as I'm teaching her, she ask 'what does that mean'? I said, it means my heart loves your heart. She put her tiny little hands together and said, Namaste Nani, I heart you......
I heart you too my darling Abbie.
